Enjoyed the latest James Patterson novel. "Private #1 Suspect" written with his author du jour was a sequel. Fortunately I was able to remember the background from the previous book so I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jack Morgan is the head of a PI agency called Private and it's state of the art. He needs his own company when he's framed for a murder of a former girlfriend. In addition he's pressured by the mob to help them find 30 million in prescription drugs that disappeared. Throw in a serial killer and a movie star that likes young girls and you have a pretty hefty line up. Good job!

Finished the latest James Patterson novel, "Kill Alex Cross." It is a sequel that Patterson still writes on his own. This was one of his best. The plot was two fold. Alex Cross was called to help when the President's children were kidnapped from their private school. At the same time terrorist activities were taking place in Washington. At first it was thought that the two were connected. The two stories ran simultaneously and created a good read. Scary because it could happen.
Picked up my new iPhone 4S tonight. It was great until I came home and connected it to my iTunes and suddenly it was my iPhone 4 all over again. Everything I downloaded as far as apps turned my new phone into my old one. Now I have to restore the 4S and figure out how to keep my apps. Always something.

James Patterson and his author du jour wrote a little novel in a cross between Nicholas Sparks (not as good by far) and Mary Higgins Clark. "The Christmas Wedding" is about a mid fifties mother who decides out of her three suitors/friends to marry on Christmas Day and have all her family come. The family hasn't all been together since she was widowed 3 years before. She won't tell anyone, including the groom which one she is picking until she is walking down the aisle. We get a little background about each of her grown kids and a little background on the three potential grooms. Cute little read.

James Patterson and his author du jour have written a great novel called "Kill Me If You Can." Wouldn't mind if he made a serial out of this character. Matthew Bannon is a former Marine who has decided to follow his dream and go to art school. His professor is also his girlfriend. Life is good. Matt is in Grand Central Station when a professional hit man is hired to take out another professional hit man. Matt finds the dead man and also finds his stash of millions of dollars in diamonds. Now he's on the run and the hit men are after him. With a surprising turn of events the story goes off in a different direction. Good job and good read!

"Now You See Her" is James Patterson and his co-writer of the month's latest novel. It was one of his/their best. Jeanine heads to Spring Break in Florida and her life changes. In a moment of jealously she steals her boyfriend's car and goes joy riding while drunk. She hits a man. A cop shows up and changes her life. She thinks he's her hero but she finds out he's a monster. 17 years later she's recreated her life and she and her daughter are in NYC with a new career and a new name. Suddenly she's drawn back to Florida to save a man from death row and her life is in jeapordy. Excellent page turner!
Suffering from a cold or virus. Sore throat, achy, stuffy head. Went to work two days in a row with it but today I'm not going in. I need to save the vocal cords or I'll be hoarse, too. This will give me four days off in a row which is badly needed.

Finished James Patterson's "10th Anniversary." This was the 10th of in the series of the Women's Murder Club. Good fast read which is pretty typical of Patterson and whoever is his coauthor of the month. Several stories running side by side to help keep all the members of the club busy. We covered rape, murder, incest, and infidelity. Yep! That was it in a nut shell.

James Patterson has put his name on some interesting books but this one is bizarre! Whoever really wrote it has gone way off the beaten path. Time frame is 60 years in the future and the Elite have taken over the earth and the humans are scum. The Elite are genetically altered and born in test tubes after two years of incubation. They are trying to destroy all the humans and of course there has to be a hero to save the world. Hays Baker has spent his life thinking he was Elite to find out during an operation that he's human and now hunted by the Elite who used to consider him a hero. I wasn't overly impressed with this book and am hoping it isn't a sequel but it has the makings of it. I did read it quickly since it has the short chapters that a Patterson book is famous for. Had the day off and spent it on the couch with my jammies on.

James Patterson wrote another Maximum Ride book. This one was "Angel" which is named after one of the main characters. This time the flock is out to once again save the world and they unite with another gang to help them accomplish it. Can't say anymore or it will ruin it. Good read even if it is for teenagers.

I thought it would take me forever to read James Patterson's "Tick Tock." Not that it wasn't good, I just couldn't find the time to read. Being back at the old job doesn't allow for reading and then when I go on lunch it's so difficult to find a quiet place that I have to wait till evening and then I'm too tired to pick up the book. Patterson is a two day read at most and this was about a week. This book featured his latest character, Michael Bennett, NYC Detective. He's widowed and has ten adopted children. His grandfather, who is now a Catholic priest and a nanny, are helping him raise his gang. He's called in to find a bomber/killer that has been attacking what appears to be randomly in New York. Ends up that it's a killer with a motive and he's not killing at random but he has an agenda. His final victim is to be Michael.
I'm looking forward to next week when I get trained to help in bookkeeping and I'll be back for a few hours a day at my desk job. Might get to sneak in a book or two while I'm there.

Cross Fire
James Patterson hit another out of the park with his latest, "Cross Fire." Kyle Craig is back with a new face and an ice pick. Alex Cross is unaware who the new face is in the FBI until it's almost too late for him, his new bride and his kids. This is what I read James Patterson for and he didn't need a co-writer to help him out.
Thanksgiving tomorrow and nothing's ready on my end. Thanks to hubby for buying the groceries while I was working and when I get home at 3 today it will be to jump right into the pie baking and stuffing making. Dinner is at my daughter's and other than the turkey, ham, oyster stuffing, and pumpkin pies that I'm bringing, it's all on her and whomever she got to help with other sides. Not a big crowd since my stepdaughter is having her in-laws over and that will take a few away from our table. We'll just have to make do!

Another Patterson
I've been getting quite a few books delivered that have been stacking up pretty high and because I was reading some rather large novels I hadn't had a chance to get to the new ones. I finally got to James Patterson's "Don't Blink." I was a new character for him and a very good one. Wouldn't mind seeing this one again and knowing him and his long list of other co-authors, I would think that's a good possibility. In this one we were introduced to Nick Daniels, journalist. He travels the world for stories to write but in this one he ended up with more than he could handle in NYC. He was witness to a horrible murder in Lombardo's restaurant in NYC and from then on he went from witness to victim. Good and fast! Just like Patterson's other novels.

Another Patterson, or is it?
Finished "The Postcard Killers" by James Patterson and Liza Marklund. Yes, it had the Patterson look and the short chapters that he's famous for but other than that....I think it was all Liza. Not like his style. Took me till half way through the book to get into it at all. Hope this isn't a new series of books. It took place in Europe. A couple is traveling around Europe killing off couples and staging them to look like famous paintings from that area. They are being hunted by a NY detective whose daughter was one of the victims. His helper is a journalist who received one of the postcards that was part of the killers calling cards. Why do you need so many co-authors, Mr. Patterson?

Another book
Finished James Patterson's latest in one day. "Private" has a new character and a good story line. Definitely a good read and a quick one. Jack Morgan is the owner of a successful corporation called Private. It's a private investigative group with the highest tech capabilities. They've been contracted by the city to find a serial killer. The police haven't been successful but with the help of Jack and his crew they are successful. I see a new series for Patterson and his co-author.

One foot in front of the other
I've been dealing with a family crisis and I'm just so down about it that it's a struggle to keep holding on to sanity. Lord help my loved one through this dark and dismal time.
I read James Patterson's "The 9th Judgement" and it was exceptionally well done. It's one of his Women's Murder Club series and one of the best so far. Not in the mood to go into details but go for it.

Another success
James Patterson's latest book in the Maximum Ride series is "Fang." I know it's for teenagers but I enjoy them and that's that. This one was back on par and I'm looking forward to next March and the next release. Hope I can remember what happened in this one by then. The bird kids are growing older and things are changing!

Storm of the century
We're getting blasted by a snow storm that is threatening to dump up to two feet on us overnight. Hubby is already out at 9 pm trying to get the first 7 inches off the driveway so we can try to keep on top of it. We spent my day off yesterday, getting groceries, propane for the grill, and kerosene for the extra heater. I'm well stocked with candles and there's a stack of dried wood in the garage. Even filled the bathtub with water. All this in preparation for no electricity. It's a wet snow so I can see those power lines coming down. We're both due at our jobs early tomorrow but I'm betting the locals won't have our road plowed until late tomorrow or Sunday. Drifting is supposed to be a factor, too.
I've wrapped up another book. This was the latest James Patterson. "Worst Case" is his third with the newest of characters that he's come up with. The cop from NYC that has ten adopted kids and a widow. This time he's chasing down a serial kidnapper/killer. Likes kidnapping rich kids and testing them to see how environmentally and socially aware they are about the world. Wrong answer and bye bye. Pretty good read.

Patterson's latest
This is a little different twist for James Patterson. He took the Pharaoh Tut and tried to determine who killed him. He threw us back to the 1300's BC to Tut's reign, to the early 1900's for the time of Howard Carter who discovered and unearthed Tut's tomb, and to the Present Day when Patterson was writing the novel. Interesting way of writing this novel. Of course, it's speculation but it made for good read.
Well, Christmas is over and it was very nice. Nine for dinner which makes it nice since we can all sit around the table together. The gifts were exchanged and I was given a Dyson vacuum by my kids. I had hinted that my current vacuum was on it's last suck and now I'm the proud owner of a powerful monster that is sucking the dirt from the basement right up through the first floor. I still have gifts under the tree for the great grandkids but I haven't heard from them. They were to have come for Christmas night and I didn't get a call to let me know what happened. I don't think I want to keep the gifts for too long or the kids will outgrow them and they will be useless. I think everyone had a pretty good time but it was sad we didn't have the whole family together for the day.

Fun new series of books
James Patterson has written the first of probably many for the young. I enjoy his Maximum Ride series so I thought I would check out "Witch & Wizard." It's an interesting concept. A young brother and sister are part of a society that has been taken over by a New Order and they are suspected of being a witch and wizard. Until pressed into action they did not realize that they had these powers. Suddenly they are taken prisoners by the New Order and are to be executed. With their new powers manage to escape and suddenly are in charge of rescuing all the children that have been taken captive. Fun read and we'll see how Patterson and his co-author handle this new series.
Snow fell yesterday and covered us with about 15-16 inches of the white stuff. I missed a full day of work and waited nervously for hubby to make it home. I was due in to work today at 10 and our road wasn't plowed and our driveway was a mess. Hubby didn't want me to go but I felt I needed to try. I got stuck in a snow drift up to my fenders and after struggling for about 10 minutes with my 4 wheel drive, I finally managed to get it lose and backed about a 1/4 of a mile back to the house. At the entrance to the drive I found a young guy with a plow and I asked him if he'd plow our drive for $50 and he seemed thrilled. About that time a plow from the township went through and opened the road that I had just been stuck in. I made it to work and was only 8 minutes late. Now I'm sitting here well after closing time waiting for an electrican to come and fix a light fixture in the vault which could be a potential fire hazard. Due to company policy, we can't have an unequal amount of people of the opposite sex in the store so being the only parttimer with hours available, I was chosen to wait with the two department heads for the electrician whose arrival time is after 9. Of course, then he has to fix the light and it being a Sunday and probably double time, he could take all night to do the repair. In the meantime the roads are probably refreezing and I'll be crawling home. Hopefully I'll make up for some of the hours I lost yesterday.
Time is getting short and I've still got gifts to buy and food to get before Christmas. Well, really I need the food before Tuesday when my stepson and daughter-in-law show up. First of the big meals will be cooked that evening and then again on Friday. At least I have Tuesday and Wednesday off to prepare for Friday.

Still stuffed!
Had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. I trotted down the road with a 28 lb. turkey and 4extra legs and thighs, a ham, two kinds of stuffing and sauerkraut. Destination was my stepdaughter's house. Everyone brought something and we had a great meal. Still missing my two stepsons but Christmas is coming and hopefully they'll be here for that.
Finished the latest James Patterson book, "I, Alex Cross." This was a great read. The nice thing was that he wrote it himself without any help! Alex Cross is back on the police force and working his magic in this one. His own niece has been murdered in a horrible way and he tracks the killer to the most famous address in Washington, DC.

Terrible James Patterson novel
I just read the worst James Patterson novel......"The Thomas Berryman Number" is the worst novel I've read by one of my favorite writers. It's an old one that I found I hadn't read and I'm sorry I found it. Even sorrier that I wasted the money to buy it. Get the picture? Not posting a link. Don't waste your time on this one. EVER!
Time is growing short for the Thanksgiving Day festivities. I'm dining with my step daughter this year. Her husband is a doctor and he's on call so we're going to their house. Of course I'm taking the turkey, ham, two kinds of stuffing, gravy and some other stuff. Everyone is contributing so we're hoping for a good turnout. Guess I'll be up late on Wednesday getting my share done. Hubby has to work early on Thanksgiving Day so I'm on my own with the prep.
